Mitä saat

Holders of the vocational qualification in social and health care have broad basic skills for various professional tasks, both more specialized competence and the professional skills required by working life in at least one area of working life.

APPLICATION PERIOD AND STUDENT INTAKE:

Applicants will be invited to the aptitude test based on application and preliminary assignments.
The education provider decides who will be invited to the aptitude test.

Preliminary assignments will be send via Webropol-surveys.
If the applicant fails to return the assignments by the deadline, it means that she or he will not be eligible for the next stage of the aptitude test, and the result is ‘fail’. NOTE. We are using the email address you gave us in your application.

Aptitude test is on 10th of June 2024 at Seinäjoki Finland (no Teams-possibility). Please notice that only those applicants, who have returned the preliminary assignments, will be invited to aptitude test by e-mail.

Please note that you will have Finnish language test at the same day than interviews.
If you don´t pass Finnish language test, you cannot be selected as a student. If you have done finish language test before, please send a copy of diploma by e-mail at: seduhyvinvointi@sedu.fi

Students who are native speakers of Finnish are tested for their knowledge of English.
Students who are not native speakers of Finnish are tested for their knowledge of both Finnish and English.

STUDIES INCLUDE:

The Vocational Qualification in Social and Health Care is composed of vocational units (145 competence points) and common units (35 competence points). Competence area of elderly care and rehabilitation

Professional tasks
- working in home care in a manner that enhances the client's functional capacity and promotes the social inclusion of the elderly
- nursing and care based on client’s/patient’s needs
- drug care and the follow up the effects of drugs
- taking care of cleaning, food service, cosines and safety

Taught mainly in English. Some subjects are taught partly in Finnish.
Also on the job-learning periods assume the use of Finnish.

Student will have
- wide-ranging basic capabilities for the different tasks in their occupational field
- ability to wide and responsible nursing and care work in different environments of the client/patient
- ability to multi-professional co-operation

A personal study plan (PSP) is compiled for each student. The PSP is updated throughout the duration of the studies.

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS:

The SORA-decree (Directive 27/011/2015, Finnish National Agency for Education) is applied in selection. The directive takes into account suitability for the sector, especially from the viewpoint of characteristics relating to health and functional ability.

Here is a list of the health requirements, which can be an obstacle to accepting a student to the Vocational Qualification in Social and Health Care programme.
- psychological illnesses, which prevent the completion of practical tasks or participation in workplace learning, such as current untreated psychosis or major depression which reduces the ability to work.
- physical illnesses, such as musculoskeletal disorders or injuries and chronic skin disorders, which limit ability to work to the extent that they prevent activity in practical tasks or workplace learning.
- blood transmitted diseases can limit practical tasks or workplace learning placements.
- substance abuse or substance addiction.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

All students are entitled to free lunches.

The students provide their working clothes, school books and other material needed.
During the education at least one of the on-the-job-learning periods will take place abroad for Finnish students.
