Health requirements for SORA qualifications
The aim of the SORA legislation is to promote safety in education and in working life. If you are studying for a qualification that has requirements relating to patient or client safety, traffic safety or the safety of minors, you should have your health and ability to function assessed when you apply for your studies.
SORA qualifications are subject to specific regulations on the health and functional ability of the applicant and student and on revoking the right to study.
Applicants may be asked to provide information on their state of health for the purposes of assessing and deciding on their admission.
If the applicant has indicated at the time of application that there are health issues to be considered in the selection process, the applicant may be asked to provide further information.
The SORA regulations apply to the following vocational education and training provided by Sedu where the main language of instruction is English:
The following may constitute a barrier to student admission:
- current untreated psychosis or severe incapacitating depression or other illness affecting mental health and functional ability, which prevents the performance of practical tasks related to education and on-the-job learning
- musculoskeletal disease, disabilities or other physical health and functional limitation which prevents the performance of practical tasks related to education and training/on-the-job learning
- a disabling skin condition, such as chronic dermatitis, which prevents the performance of tasks related to education and on-the-job learning
- problematic substance abuse or addiction.
